Tsunami system founded in the year 1979 the lawyer Richard Murat.

He worked out then basic tsunami principles and for defining that system accepted Japanese name tsunami (Japanese: 'the great wave').

As the founder of tsunami system he is titled soke (Japanese: 'the founder, the head') and taishi (Japanese: 'the great master, the patriarch') and posseses the highest degree 10 dan.

Formulating principles of tsunami system Richard Murat used and harmoniously connected foundations of a lot of ancient and of modern systems of East and West, related to various fields.
Tsunami system came into being in March 1979 of year, when Richard Murat in the town Kutno in central Poland opened the first tsunami club, to it during the period of two weeks began attend over 80 members.

Then, in the period of two years tsunami system gradually was developing, both in the domain of ideological foundations, and as regards of the organizational domain. In this period were founded already the first eleven tsunami clubs in the following places: Kutno, Gostynin, Płock, Sierpc, Żychlin, Łowicz, Mieczysławów, Kłodawa, Konin, Włocławek, Warsaw.

On 12 October 1980 in the first club in Kutno Richard Murat organized the first tsunami congress (Japanese: taikai). There participated in it the representatives of the first eleven tsunami clubs.

During that congress was brought into being the tsunami federation - Tsunami Renmei (in other words: International Tsunami Federation), of which president was appointed Richard Murat.

Later took place a lot of next tsunami congresses in cities: Warsaw, Kutno, Bydgoszcz, Toruń and Puławy.

During the first ten years (1979-1989) tsunami system was developing in Poland very dynamically.

In that period came into being a lot of clubs and circles, and also large number of persons undertook independent improvement themselves according to tsunami principles.

In the year 1988 tsunami system (as art of fighting) came into the composition of the greatest organization arts of fighting in Poland: Polish Martial Arts and Sports Federation, associated 27 associations of various styles practiced in Poland: Japanese (ju-jutsu, aikido, karate), Chinese (kung-fu/wu-shu), Korean (taekwondo), Vietnamese, Filipinos and others.

That Federation is engaged in confirming of regulations of various associates, regulations of conferring degrees, conferring and confirming masterly degrees, organization of country-wide martial arts festivals and instructor courses.

During the first ten years tsunami system found also proper recognition in environment of hand-to-hand fighting. Reflection of that recognition was true enough that founder and leader of tsunami system Richard Murat in the year 1989 was elected by leaders of various styles for the president mentioned above Polish Martial Arts and Sports Federation (and he has acted already for four following terms).

Besides in acknowledgement his skills and of contributions, in 1999 year Management of Polish Martial Arts and Sports Federation (concentrating 26 leaders of different styles of art of fighting) admitted Richard Murat highest masterly degree 10 dan.

Apart Richard Murat also three Polish masters have got promotion for the 10 dan degree (here in alphabetical order):

  • Joseph Brudny - pioneer kung-fu in Poland, founder Pszczynska Academy of Fighting Arts,
  • Tadeusz Kochanowski - pioneer judo in Poland and the first president Polish Judo Association,
  • Christopher Kondratowicz - pioneer jiu-jitsu in Poland, leader of style goshin-ryu jiu-jitsu.

Mentioned four masters got certificates for the degree 10 dan and got from hands of representatives Polish Government and Warsaw Municipal Government on 30 May 1999 at the great IX of martial arts instructors' festival in Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw (see photo below).

Independently from this for contributions in development of art of fight and for participation in preparation of project of law about physical education Richard Murat - as the only representative of arts of fighting - received special thanks from highest organ of authority in Poland: Parliament of Polish Republic.

In 1989 year began also the following period in development of tsunami system: international.

From that period began it namely practice persons from other countries: Ukraine, Russia, Byelorussia, Lithuania, Moldavia, Tatarstan, Israel, Angola, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Mali, Sea-coasts of Ivory, Iraq, Denmark, England, USA, Canada, Italy, Japan, Cyprus and so on.

Great number of these persons - after suitable training under direction soke Richard Murat and other tsunami instructors - began to run tsunami clubs in different regions of world: in Europe, Asia, Africa and America.

Nowadays tsunami system practiced is already on all the world: in Europe, America, Asia and Africa.
The reason of dynamic development of tsunami system all over the world is simplicity and rightness and desirability of its guidelines.

The outstanding tsunami instructor from Russia is renshi Anatoliy Richagov 4 dan. He has studied tsunami in Poland under soke Richard Murat's 10 dan guidance, and also in Sankt-Petersburg under guidance of other instructors, mainly kyoshi Mark Furman 5 dan. Tsunami system is practiced also in the Jewish centers. The most active Jewish person actively engaged tsunami is sensei Robert Tchaykovsky 1 dan - the president of Maccabi Club in Warsaw, member of the board of Maccabi World Union and delegate for World Jewish Congress.

Above presented publications show the initial group of studies of tsunami. It belongs to it in large numbers publications presenting practice and methodology of tsunami.
